Cycle hangar
Cycle hangar - `a safe, covered place to park (a) bicycle'. (definition and image from TFL London). Cycle hangars are also referred to as bike hangars, bike stores, and bike lock-ups. They may also known by brand names such as Cyclehoop or Bikenest, lock-it safe that provide the hangars via yearly subscription or rental scheme.
Cycle hangars are on-street, secure cycle parking storage units for local residents. Cycle hangars members can only access the hangars by using a key. They encourage cycling by providing a safe parking place to individuals who would otherwise be put off owning and using a bike. (Hackney council website)
There has been a steady increase in the number of cycle hangars available in major cities. For example in London immediately following The Cycle Parking Implementation Plan (Transport for London (TfL), 2019) in 2020 there were around 900 cycle hangars, By the end of 2023 there were more than 10,000.
